Beauford Briggs

of Kadoka, South Dakota, died on Friday, May 11, 1984
at the Kadoka Retirement Home in Kadoka at the age of 66

Beauford Briggs was born December 31, 1917, at Kadoka, South Dakota, to Floyd and Faye Briggs and attended Franklin School west of Kadoka and Kadoka High School.

On April 9, 1939, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Struble in Rapid City.  They first lived at Kadoka, where he was in the dray business with his father.

Then in 1942 they moved to Coalinga, California, to work as a heavy equipment operator.  In 1944, the family returned to Kadoka, where he worked for Rock Construction Company and, for a time, managed the Kadoka Pool Hall.

Due to illness, he retired in 1959.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Briggs, of Kadoka; two daughters, Bonnie Riggins of Kadoka, and Electa Preslicka, of Bradshaw, Nebraska; three sons, Paul and Robert Briggs of Kadoka, and Roger Briggs of Rapid City; 11 grandchildren; his mother, Faye Sherburne of Kadoka, two sisters, Margaret Barrett, of Belvidere, and Joyce Hicks of Kadoka; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Clifford.

A memorial has been established.
