Jean Neumann

Patty “Jean” Truman was born May 16th, 1942, in Deadwood, South Dakota, the third child of Dale and Louise (Cracco) Truman. She attended elementary school in Lead and Terraville, South Dakota. In 1950, her father reenlisted in the Air Force and the family moved to Box Elder, where she continued her education.

Jean was united in marriage to Ernest “Ernie” Neumann on November 7, 1965, at New Underwood, South Dakota. After their marriage they resided on the Neumann Ranch located eleven miles south of Cottonwood, all their married life. While on the ranch Jean enjoyed the baby calves, raising chickens and growing plants. She was well known for her ability to cook great meals.

He husband Ernie preceded her in death on February 18, 2010. She continued to reside on the ranch with the assistance of her nephew John. After his death, she moved into the Kadoka Nursing Home, where she has since resided.

Survivors include two sisters Frances Cummings of Rapid City, and Connie Tollefson of Everett, Washington, several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband Ernie and nephew John, Jean was preceded in death by five brothers Dale, James, Charles “Sonny”, David and Michael Truman.

Visitation will be held one hour preceding the services.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 31, at the chapel at Pine Lawn Cemetery in Rapid City, with Ken Toews officiating.

Interment will follow at the Pine Lawn Cemetery.
