Deanna Fees

of Summerset formerly of Philip. South Dakota, died on Sunday, September 4, 2022
at Monument Health in Rapid City at the age of 75

Deanna Marie Hart was born May 24, 1947, the only daughter of nine children born to Harry and Veronica (Reedy) Hart. She grew up and received her education in Philip.

She later moved to Oklahoma for two years and worked in a linen factory. She then moved back to Philip before moving to Piedmont, and eventually moved back to Philip in 1980, to be closer to family. While in Philip, she worked at the Pool Hall and Sale Barn Cafe for many years.

Deanna met Kelly Fees and they dated for five years before getting married in 1991, at which time she became a full-time employee of the ranch. She loved calving and haying season.

In 2013, when she about got trampled by a herd of cows on her 4-wheeler she said she was to darn old for this and they sold the ranch in 2014 and moved to the Hart Ranch in the summertime and wintered in Apache Junction, Arizona for the last seven years.

In the spring of 2019, after an 18” snow storm they decided that the camper life was not much fun and purchased a home in Summerset, where she enjoyed Bingo, trips to Deadwood, Shuffle Board, shopping with her sister-in-law (while the guys went golfing), and most of all spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband of 36 years Kelly; children Anna (John) Schreurs, James (Melony) Gyles, and Miles (Erin) Hovland; step-children Tina Fees (Shane), and Kelly Fees, Jr; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers Hugh (Joann) Hart, and Daniel Hart; mother-in-law Ann Fees; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Deanna was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, and father-in-law Clifford Fees.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Philip Health Services Auxiliary Cancer Care Fund.

Visitation will be held 4-6 p.m. Friday, September 9, at the Rush Funeral Home in Philip.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 10, at the United Church in Philp, with Pastor Kathy Chesney officiating.

Interment will be at the Masonic Cemetery in Philip.

My love to all of you, I am sorry I didn’t get to see more of you! I had such a good time when I stayed with her and Kelly in AZ and we ran all around the Phoenix area to cousin Shirley Reedy’s birthday party events! Love to all take care of each other like there’s no tomorrow!

We were so sad to hear the news of Deanna's passing, but we know she is at peace, no more pain or suffering. Have many many memories to hold on to, as she was Joann's cousin. We will treasure all the times together, glad we got to see her a couple weeks ago. Prayers and comfort to all the family. She will be missed.
