George E. Anderson was born in a log cabin near Midland on February 22, 1903, to Charles and Josie (Nordstrom) Anderson. He grew up and received his education in the Midland area.
George was united in marriage to Blanche "Marie" Shirk on July 3, 1933, in Clark, South Dakota. They ranched on his parent's homestead all of their married life until he entered the Kadoka Care Center in November 1969. George was later transferred to the Pierre Manor House before entering the Philip Nursing Home in November 1971.
Survivors include two sons, George Anderson, Jr., of Midland, and Jean Anderson, of Spearfish; one daughter, Karen Grothen, of Missoula, Montana; eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild; one brother, Roy Anderson, of Rapid City; two sisters, Josephine Linquist, of Sioux City, Iowa, and Esther Darling, of Rapid City; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie; his parents; two brothers, Elmer and Charles; and two sisters, Myrtle and Geneva.
