Jim Robert Johnson was born September 18, 1950, in Wall, South Dakota, the son of Arnold and Minnie Johnson, joining his sister Bonnie. Jim grew up on the Albert and Johanna Geigle homestead with his parents and sister.
Jim was united in marriage to Jean Kitterman on February 3, 1978; and to this union three daughters were born: Jana, Jackie, and Jennifer.
He was a member of the Wall School Board, the Quinn Volunteer Fire Department, and the Peno Basin Township.
A steward of the land whose greatest joy was cruising through his cows, or his 68 Chevelle, with his wife. He loved supporting his kids throughout the years and watching his grandkids in all their activities.
His love to visit and smile never failed to make friends everywhere he went.
Survivors include his wife Jean; three daughters Jana Bielmaier and her husband Craig and their children Ryon, Jocelyn and Kinsey; Jackie Roseth and her husband Thor and their son Royce; and Jennifer Richter and her husband Dalton and their children Dylan, Rylee, and Tyen; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and sister Bonnie Kjerstad.
Visitation will be held 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at the Quinn Fire Hall. A procession from the fire hall to the cemetery will begin at 11:00 a.m.
Graveside services will then be held at the Wall Cemetery at 11:00 a.m.
Following the services everyone is invited back to the Quinn Fire Hall for a luncheon and time of fellowship.
A memorial has been established to the Quinn Volunteer Fire Department.

I am so saddened by this news. I don’t remember a time in my childhood that Jim wasn’t there. I have many memories of him coming over to help babysit which may or may not have ended up with rearranging the living room for sock fights.
My deepest sympathy with you all. I will keep you all in my prayers.
