Jacob "Danny" Addison

of Philip, South Dakota, died on Thursday, February 27, 2025
at Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital in Philip at the age of 85

Jacob D. Addison, better known as "Danny" by his family and friends, was born February 12, 1940 in Chamberlain, South Dakota, the only child to Sidney and Alvina (Sanftner) Addison. He grew up on the family ranch on Brave Bull Creek north of Belvidere. Danny attended all his years of school in Belvidere where he played football and basketball. He graduated high school in 1959.

While visiting relatives in Clark, South Dakota Danny was set up on a blind date where he met his future wife, Mary Carter. They were united in marriage August 11, 1960, in Clark.

Throughout his life he enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, travelling, and playing softball, pool, and cards. They later moved to Philip in 2009.

Survivors include his wife Mary of Philip; children: Sid (Lesa) Addison of Tuthill; Jim (Georganna) Addison of Belvidere; DJ (Sonja) Addison of Belvidere; and Sara Pfeifle of Philip; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren with another on the way; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by a daughter Mary Ann Addison and his parents.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 8, 2025 at the Community Cemetery in Belvidere with Fr. Grant Gerlach officiating.
