Ann Feesof Philip, South Dakota, died on Wednesday, April 30, 2025
|
Doris “Ann” Fees was born June 2, 1933, the youngest daughter of Chandler and Ethel (Hunt) Ward. Ann grew up on the ranch and received her education in Cottonwood graduating from the 8th grade. Ann helped on her parents ranch until marrying Clifford Fees on June 12, 1951 and to this union were born five children: Veryl, Kelly, Howard, Donald, and Sheri.
Ann and Cliff farmed and ranched in western Jackson County most of their lives. They sold their ranch in February 2002 and moved to Philip, South Dakota where they resided. Cliff died June 2015, and Ann continued to live in her home until she suffered a stroke at which time she moved into the Scotchman Living Center and resided until her death.
Ann enjoyed working on the ranch, especially mowing during haying season. Ann was an avid oil painter. She started this hobby in 1979, and many friends and family were gifted her paintings. Ann was a member of the Cottonwood Ladies Club, United Church Ladies, and was a 50-year member of the Eastern Star. She also loved fishing and camping, spending many weekends with family and friends enjoying the outdoors.
Grateful for having shared her life are four sons: Veryl (Carol) Fees of Des Moines, IA, Kelly Fees of Summerset, Howard Fees of Breckenridge, MN, and Donald (Carmen) Fees of Philip; daughter Sheri (Dennis) Holloway of South Hill, VA; and a host of other relatives and friends.
